Death Takes a Ride Review!!!

Death Takes a Ride by Lorena McCourtney

Book Description:
Cate Kinkaid arrives at H&B Classic Auto Restorations to give a friend a ride. But, as usual, trouble finds Cate even there--this time in the form of one dead man, one wounded man, and what appears to be a pretty obvious case of self-defense. Owner Matt Halliday wants to hire her, but not for this case. Instead, Cate is charged with finding a man who owns a particular motorcycle Matt would like to buy. As her search progresses, she begins to suspect that the shooting in Matt's office may not have been as cut-and-dried as it appeared.

My Opinion:
Awesome read!!!  Lorena did it again! :)  This is the second book from The Cate Kinkaid Files for me and I really need to go back and get the first in the series!  It is SO good! :)  This time I didn't really solve the case before Cate, but I wasn't really surprised when she realized who the killer is!  Lorena fills the case with many suspects and different twists as the plot thickens!  Octavia, as always, is amazing! :D  She is one of the best pet characters I've had the pleasure to read about and in Death Takes a Ride she is joined by a new and lovable sidekick. ;)  Cate is excellent as well; I LOVE the way she witnesses and always makes an effort to stick to her Christian morals even when its hard to do the right thing!  I can not wait for the next installment!  The way this one ends is fantastic!!!  Lorena's writing is witty and hilarious, but not lacking in suspense either!  The way she ends some of her chapters...you HAVE to keep reading!  More changes are coming for Cate in Death Takes a Ride but are they welcome changes; and how will her relationship with Mitch handle said changes?  Overall this is a highly entertaining read, from a fantastic author, filled with amazing, lovable characters, topped off with a lovely mystery!  I highly recommend it and can't wait for more!!! :D

Rival Hearts Review!!!!

Rival Hearts by Tara Randel

Book Description:
About Quilts of Love: Quilts tell stories of love and loss, hope and faith, tradition and new beginnings. The Quilts of Love seriesfocuses on the women who quilted all of these things into their family histories. A new book releases each month and features contemporary and historical romances as well as women's fiction and the occasional light mystery. You will be drawn into the endearing characters of this series and be touched by their stories.

They both want the promotion. But will they find out that it is worth the cost?

Molly Henderson and Ben Weaver have been rival magazine writers for the same publishing group for years. When both come up for the same promotion, they find themselves in an unexpected competition to win the spot. Molly, editor of Quilter's Heart, and Ben, editor of Outdoor Adventures, must switch roles, each working for the other for one month, then submit an article at the end of their quests.
Can girly-girl Molly survive the outdoor adventures that Ben has planned? Can Ben navigate the perils of the social dynamics of quilting events without destroying a valuable quilt in one short month? More importantly, in this he-said, she-said situation, will Molly and Ben give in to their attraction and fall in love, no matter who wins?

My Opinion:
FABULOUS book!  I absolutely loved this read!  There were spots in the beginning where the pace seemed to drop into lulls off and on, but then the story really got going!  I was led forward with the question of how is this going to end and who is going to win the promotion; as well as deeper messages of serving!  Molly and Ben are interesting characters.  Molly has grown up trying to gain love and attention from everyone around her especially her family, and Ben struggles with finding and putting down roots, loss and pain, and moving past his facade of arrogance.  It took me a little while to like Ben as a character, but as I read on and "got to know him" he became a good and lovable character! :)  The way all of these characters grow, especially Molly and Ben, is fabulous, and there are many characters that are amazing such as Molly's brother Paul and her best friend Taylor.  The end of this book is lovely, and the only thing I personally found a bit lacking was I wish there had been some more prayers.  This is the first time I've read Tara's writing and the first Quilts of Love to make it to My Favorite Books List!  This series keeps getting better and better, so far, and I can't wait for the next one.  I love Quilting, I love Kayaking, and I LOVED Rival Hearts! :)

P.S. I encourage you to look up a Hearts Entwined Quilt if you've never seen one.  The quilt that Molly is putting together is not the quilt on the cover and a true Hearts Entwined quilt is AMAZING and GORGEOUS!!!

I think these songs fit and work with Rival Heart in different ways :)

The Revealing Review!!!

The Revealing by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Book Description:
Naomi King, soft spoken, loyal, and easily overlooked, has a gift. She sees what others can't see. Intuition, she calls it. Others in Stoney Ridge don't know what to make of it and dismiss her hunches and inklings altogether.

When a young woman arrives at the Inn at Eagle Hill with a shocking secret about Tobe Schrock, Naomi fears the worst. She can't ignore the feeling that something sinister is at work-- something more than a threat to the tenuous love begun between her and Tobe.

As signs mount, they begin to point to Jake Hertzler, the elusive mastermind behind Schrock Investments' downfall. Soon, events spiral hopelessly out of control and Naomi must decide whether to listen to her head or her heart.

In this riveting conclusion to The Inn at Eagle Hill series, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher pulls out all the stops with a fast-paced tale of deception, revelation, and just the right dose of romance.

My Opinion:
LOVE IT!!!!  I was a little worried when I read that this was the conclusion of this series!  I DON'T WANT IT TO END and I'm not entirely happy with the end for just that reason!!!!!!!! LOL!  I have LOVED these characters especially Mim a.k.a Mrs. Miracle!  I was also afraid, and this is nothing against Naomi because I love her and her story to (I actually love her more so as she grows in The Revealing), that there wouldn't be enough of Mim's story.  I was wrong!  In fact I absolutely LOVE where Mim's story goes in The Revealing though I'm not particularly found of the questions I still have about where she'll go from here!  New characters enter the scene as well as old, including the nefarious Jake Hertzler, and a new guest at Eagle Hill which I had some trouble liking {but as David Stoltzfus says "It's easy to love God,"..."Nobody has any problem in loving our heavenly Father.  The problem is to love people who have sinned against us."  So true, and while she is a character and hasn't sinned against me, Mim wrestles with the things Brooke does.}, Brooke's Aunt however I LOVE!  I REALLY loved and enjoyed figuring out some of the great twists Suzanne sews in before they happen, as well as the ones that completely snuck up on me and blew me out of the water!!!  SO much happens in this conclusion!  But many questions come out and secrets are, as the name implies, revealed!  Who are the new strangers around?  Will Jake ever reap consequences?  Will Galen ever accept Tobe?  Can Tobe set down roots instead of run? And who's gonna marry whom by the time it's all said and done!?  I REALLY enjoyed this book, but REALLY want more!  I do highly recommend this series and Suzanne is one of my favorite authors! :)

P.S. UPDATE!!!  Since I was worried about some of these favorite characters stories staying as cliff hangers I contacted Suzanne and asked if she is going on with them in another series... and she said YES!!!  So while this may be the end of this series it's not the end for these characters!  And I for one can't wait to see where Suzanne takes them!

My Opinion:
I Love the way this all starts!  The prologue leads you into a story within the stories and links them all together beautifully.

Spitfire Sweetheart is an excellent beginning!  The more books I read by Mary Connealy the more I LOVE her writing!  There are SO many of her characters that I LOVE and Mazie has shot to the top of the list!!!  With her spunk and strength of Faith and will she is awesome!  This is a GREAT story dealing with learning to love someone for just who they are!  This one is aptly named; the spunk, the Faith, the love, the strength, the HUMOR!  I laughed so hard at some scenes I almost fell out of my chair!  This one really touched my heart!

Next is Robin Lee Hatcher's A Love Letter to the Editor.  This is a sweet read!  I enjoyed the character dialogue and loved the plot.  This one shows that you don't have to settle for anything less than love, and that God's plans are FAR better than we ever dreamed!  Molly is a great character with touches of humor and adventure.  I always enjoy a tale when the two main characters try to be at odds with each other, but then realize they're in love!  A lovely story!

Thirdly comes A Cowboy for Katie by Debra Clopton.  This is the first from Debra I've read and I LOVED IT!!!  The healing that happens with Katie and the story as a whole are amazing!  From beginning to end I loved it!  Katie and Treb are both fascinating, lovable characters.  A LOT of rebuilding happens in this one!  From the ranch, to lives, to Faith, there's gonna be some beautiful makeovers!  Excellent story!!!!

And Finally Courting Trouble by Margaret Brownley.  Courtroom stories aren't always my thing, but I LOVE Margaret's writing!  Her characters are fantastic, especially Jesse, Grace's son, and I found myself really enjoying this Court case romance with humor in the midst of danger!  It is definitely different than what I first expected it to be!   A great mystery wraps into the plot making it even more intriguing!  This is a FABULOUS end to wrap up the Novellas with beauty and love!

Overall this book is a fantastic Must read!!!!  This collection of novellas is SO good I could read it over and over and over again!  These four authors are an excellent quartet and should write more and more novellas together! :D  Filled with SO many spiritual messages and lessons, wonderful romances, healing, mystery, amazing characters, and SO much more!
