Amish Promises Review!!!!

Amish Promises by Leslie Gould

Book Description:
Journey Down a Quiet Lane in Lancaster County Where Love and Heartache and Friendship and Healing Meet
When Joel and Shani Beck arrive at their new home, they're looking for peace. Shani is thrilled to have Joel back from Iraq, but he needs time to heal, and the quiet of Lancaster seems just the place. They can't imagine any trouble with their Amish neighbors, the Lehmans, but things get off to a rocky start when their son is involved in an accident that injures one of the Lehman boys.

Eve Lehman has run her brother's household ever since the death of his wife, but Tim's a stern patriarch. Despite his protests, she's drawn to the new neighbor, Shani, and the two begin to form a strong friendship forged on faith and family. Things seem like they've quieted down until Joel's single and handsome army friend Charlie catches Eve's attention--a man unlike any Eve has ever met. Suddenly life for both families becomes more complicated than any of them could have ever imagined.

My Opinion:
Turned out to be an AWESOME read!!!!!!!  I REALLY wanted to read this one because I was Blessed to have read Leslie's whole The Courtships of Lancaster County series.  I fell in love with her way with words, and the Inspired way she crafts a story, through that series and I wanted to read her next venture.  There were times that I struggled with reading this one though because of how deeply emotional it truly is, and there were times I had to put it down for a little while to take an emotional break! LOL!  Both sides have HUGE obstacles they must over come and I won't lie, there were also times I wasn't sure how this was going to have a happy ending!  But in a way that's what was so beautifully real about it.  Life is just like this book.  In that, when you're in certain situations you just don't see how things can work out, you don't see how there can be a happy ending, or you can't see anything good come out of it, but then God takes that and makes the most beautiful things work out! :)  Dealing with strict Amish relationships, PTSD, injury, heartache, and more; the emotional range fluctuates drastically throughout.  I LOVE the kids in this story!  They add both a light heartedness and extra depth to the story and I really loved when they lifted the mood with their antics! :)  The ending makes this whole book worth reading for me!  I recommend this read for someone looking for a deep story with a happy ending and beautiful messages in between!  Overall an excellent and beautiful read!

The Proposal at Siesta Key Review!!!!

The Proposal at Siesta Key
by Shelley Shepard Gray

Book Description:
The Proposal at Siesta Key (Avon Inspire, May 2015)

A young Amish woman, yearning for freedom, crosses paths with a handsome Mennonite celebrity in a deeply moving tale of friendship and self-discovery---the second installment in the unforgettable New York Times bestselling author's new Amish Brides of Pinecraft series.

Penny Troyer rarely disobeys her parents. In the years since her sister's tragic death, they've wanted nothing more than to keep her safe...even if it means never leaving the house.

But tonight, she's bending the rules because Michael Knoxx, the most famous member of The Knoxx Family Singers, a traveling Mennonite Evangelical family ---is scheduled to speak. Penny has heard of Michael---how he lost part of his leg in a terrible accident and uses the experience to inspire others---and knows she must meet him. So, for the first time ever, Penny stands up to her parents and goes out on her own.

Though he speaks about living life to the fullest, Michael knows he needs to take his own advice. Life on the road is grueling and Michael wants to slow down, to rest...to perhaps meet someone who sees him as a man, not just a celebrity. So when a twist of fate allows him the chance to stay a little longer in Pinecraft, Michael knows God is showing him a new path, especially when he discovers how much he and Penny Troyer have in common.

But new friendships can't stop time. Soon, Michael's time in Pinecraft will be over and he'll be back on the road. Her time with Michael has brought her happiness, but will she be able to follow her heart? Or will she be faced with the one thing she's sure she'll never have the courage to do?

My Opinion:
Another sweet read from Shelley! :)  I always know I can expect a sweet and easy read from Shelley Shepard Gray and I really enjoy them.  There are times when I found my thoughts wandering with this one, but I just LOVE the way Pinecraft is described!  I also LOVE learning more about Pinecraft as it is a place I think I'd love to visit!  The new characters are great and their back stories are deep, plus the return of favorite character Beverly as well as the return of Eric make it a well rounded story.  I will admit that I had hoped to really love Eric, but he kind of made me mad in the last book! LOL! So I'm very happy to tell you that he's back on my good side after The Proposal at Siesta Key and I can't wait to see where Shelley leads him and Beverly next! ;)  The things that Shelley touches on and brings out in the story are great.  From seeking God's will instead of having what other's think His will is for you, pushed on you, and how to move forward after tragedy strikes.  I think this is a sweet read with interesting aspects and I am looking forward to the next one! :)

Lyrics (compliments of KLove.com)
"There are days of taking more than I can give
And there are choices that I made that I wouldn't make again
I've had my share of laughter
Of tears and troubled times
This has been the story of my life

I have won
And I have lost
I got it right sometimes, but sometimes I did not
Life's been a journey
I've seen joy, I've seen regret
Oh, and You have been my God through all of it

You were there when it all came down on me
When I was blinded by my fear and I struggled to believe
But in those unclear moments You were the one keeping me strong
This is how my story's always gone

I have won
And I have lost
I got it right sometimes, but sometimes I did not
Life's been a journey
I've seen joy, I've seen regret
Oh, and You have been my God through all of it
Oh, through all of it

And this is who You are, more constant than the stars
Up in the sky, all these years, all my life
I, I look back and I see You
Right now I still do
And I'm always going to

I have won
And I have lost
I got it right sometimes, but sometimes I did not
Life's been a journey
I've seen joy, I've seen regret
Oh, and You have been my God through all of it
Oh, and You have been my God through all of it
Oh, and You have been my God through all of it"

As Love Blooms Review!!!!!

As Love Blooms by Lorna Seilstad

Book Description:
Tessa Gregory is nothing if not tenacious. Denied a position as a horticulturalist at prestigious Como Park in Saint Paul, she is not above a little benevolent deception in order to get the park superintendent to change his mind and hire her. She plans to infiltrate the world of wealthy and influential people in hopes of drumming up financial support for a world-class conservatory. But before she can put those plans into action, she meets Reese King, a handsome gardener at Como Park--and a major distraction. Still, Reese might be the key to achieving her dream. But is his goal to help her . . . or to capture her heart?

Against a lush backdrop of early twentieth century Saint Paul, Minnesota, Lorna Seilstad weaves a sweet and sassy story that is sure to please. Tessa's young romance opens like a rose, stealing readers' hearts and filling their senses with the intoxicating fragrance of dreams come true.

My Opinion:
Fabulous book!  This is an excellent finale for this wonderful series!  This is the first series to make it to my Favorite Books List as a whole.  I absolutely LOVE how Lorna writes and the great characters she puts together!  From the beginning Tessa was my favorite sister, her highly entertaining personality and her ability to get herself into trouble added to these stories from the very beginning.  The title encompasses the book not just because flowers is at the forefront, but because Tessa's character truly blooms as she has, and continues to, grow!  Twists and surprises start to truly popup towards the end, and I both love what happens to, and want more for Aunt Sam.  Love prospects are all around and the return of all the beloved characters in Hannah and Charlotte as well as their husbands makes this an amazing read!  I highly recommend this whole series!  The historical detail that Lorna weaves into her stories is, as always, lovely, and the adventures that these characters face in this final part of the series is the best that they have ever gone through!  From flowers, to suffrage, to secrets, from love, to betrayal, to forgiveness, follow the Gregory sisters as Tessa finally get's her chance at her dreams!  I cannot wait to see what Lorna comes out with next! :)

Songs mentioned in the book:
"Amazing Grace" sung by Alan Jackson,
"Tell Me the Story of Jesus" sung by Annette Rigney,
"Land of Golden Dreams" performed by The Browns,
"When the Midnight Choo Choo Leaves for Alabama" by Tommy Dorsey, and
"America The Beautiful" performed by US Marine Band
Songs etc. May be changed and/or added in the future. ~ASC
