Hearts Made Whole Review!!!

Hearts Made Whole by Jody Hedlund

Book Description:
Hearts Made Whole (Bethany House, June 2015)

Can she forgive the hurting man who costs her the role she loves?

After her father's death, Caroline Taylor has grown confident running the Windmill Point Lighthouse. But in 1865 Michigan, women aren't supposed to have such roles, so it's only a matter of time before the lighthouse inspector appoints a new keeper---even though Caroline has nowhere else to go and no other job available to her.

Ryan Chambers is a Civil War veteran still haunted by the horrors of battle. He's secured the position of lighthouse keeper mostly for the isolation---the chance to hide from his past is appealing. He's not expecting the current keeper to be a feisty and beautiful woman who's angry with him for taking her job and for his inability to properly run the light. When his failings endanger others, he and Caroline realize he's in no shape to run the lighthouse, but he's unwilling to let anyone close enough to help. Caroline feels drawn to this wounded soul, but with both of them relying on that single position, can they look past their loss to a future filled with hope...and possibly love?

My Opinion:
What a story!  Jody is a fabulous story teller, and the twists and turns she brings into her stories always makes for a highly entertaining and exciting read!  Heart's Made Whole is no exception!  Though I found myself knowing who the bad guy truly was early in [and I screamed at the characters to watch out in my head on more than one occasion ;) LOL!] Jody still found ways to surprise and shock me!  I did both love the main characters and found them to be frustrating at times.  Once again I will admit there were times I was inwardly screaming "DO something!" when it came to Caroline's way of dealing with high stress situations!  But she is a lovely character with true beauty on the inside and out!  And even though Ryan has his issues he fastly becomes a most loved character as well!  :)  Their story deals with many things along the way such as drug and alcohol abuse, betrayal, worrying so much it's debilitating, women's rights, and attempting to find strength from weak vessels and learning that there's only One place you can truly find it!  Plus a twisted and wicked enemy lurks around every corner waiting to strike!  All of this keeps you on the edge of your seat as the tale unravels!  I truly loved and enjoyed the parts about the care of the lighthouse and after reading this, the second in the Beacons of Hope series, I want to read the first book and novella that came before it and any others to come after it!  Danger, pain, Faith, love, sorrow, joy, hope, redemption, prejudice, and much more await you from these pages!  Overall I think this a great read that contains all the parts that make up a fabulous story!  And I also LOVE how it ends! ;)
