Stranded Review!!!

Stranded by Dani Pettery

Book Description:
When her friend vanishes from a cruise ship, reporter Darcy St. James isn't satisfied with their explanation that she simply left her job of her own accord. Something isn't lining up, and Darcy believes the only way to find the truth is to put herself in Abby's position. Within days, Darcy learns her friend wasn't the only person to disappear mysteriously. Last summer, a woman vanished under almost identical circumstances.

Gage McKenna has taken a summer-long stint leading adventure excursions for the passengers of various cruise lines that dock for a few days of sightseeing. He's surprised to find Darcy working aboard one of the ships, investigating a troubling report. Something sinister is going on and the deeper they dig the more Gage fears they've only discovered the tip of the iceberg

My Opinion:
A nice read.  I really enjoyed this next book in the Alaskan Courage series from Dani Pettery.  I loved Darci's return and Gage's spiritual growth in this installment.  The mystery keeps you guessing for a while, but this one was a little slower paced for me until a high suspense and dangerous scene would be thrown into the mix!  I did get a little frustrated with the naivete of the characters.  At times this led them to fall for things and land in dangerous situations that could have been prevented, but they did add to the suspense of the story. :)  I really love how Dani writes about God and her characters relationship with Him; also pointing out that we can't control what others do.  There were a few things that I wish had ended differently especially with her friend, but the overall book was a good read.  I LOVE all of the McKenna siblings and I really loved how more was revealed about Jake's past! ;)  Excitement, betrayal, adventure, danger, and mystery, await you!

Songs: "Carry Me" by Josh Wilson,
"Softly And Tenderly" by Alan Jackson,
and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" by Randy Travis

( and here's two more that I saw on Dani's list and thought "Oh yeah those really go"! ;) )
"Whom Shall I Fear [God of Angel Armies]" by Chris Tomlin
and "Bless The Broken Road (Remastered Version)
by Rascal Flatts

P.S. And one thing I really enjoy about Dani Pettery is she has her own soundtracks for her books!!!
Here's where you can find them!
Songs etc. May be changed and/or added in the future. ~ASC

My Opinion:
LOVE IT!!!  I never really was a fan of the Love Finds You series, but when I saw Serena B. Miller was the author of this one I HAD to give it a shot!  I was NOT disappointed!  I absolutely loved Serena's Under a Blackberry Moon, so much so that I jump at the chance to read anything written by her!  From the beginning I was intrigued and Serena has this amazing way of writing that keeps me laughing and interested all the way through.  I love her God given gift of stringing words together in such an inexplicably awesome way!  Whenever there is a moment where the pace begins to slow she throws in another twist that kicks it back up into full gear!  And the way she writes about a little kid is excellent!  Along with the secrets that unravel in this story a murder mystery is revealed.  I always love all of Serena's characters and this is probably some of my all time favorites.  This is the the first of her Amish books I've read, and I absolutely love how she portrays these amazing people.  The whole concept of an Englischer with Amish relatives is fascinating to me, and I haven't read many books that explore this scenario.  I truly fell in love with Joe, Rachael, and the many other characters that make up this awesome story!  I could read this again and again and it has made me re-think giving the Love finds you Series, as a whole, another chance...Maybe.  I don't really think there can be a better one than this though.  I can not wait for another opportunity to read more from Serena who is fastly becoming one of my all time favorite authors!!!  Love, mystery, secrets, fascinating back stories, beauty, pain, healing, and SO much more awaits you in Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, Ohio.  A MUST READ and one of my Favorite Books list picks!!!

Songs: "Rock Of Ages" by Johnny Cash, "Before the Morning" by Josh Wilson, and "He Leadeth Me" by The Cluster Pluckers

Fatal Exchange Review!

Fatal Exchange by Lisa Harris

Book Description:
Emily Hunt might come from a family of cops, but she never goes looking for an adrenaline rush. She lives the quiet--well, relatively quiet--life of a teacher and thrives on making a difference in the lives of her students. But she'll have to draw on a well of strength and savvy she didn't know she had as student Rafael Cerda takes her class hostage for ransom money to save his brother's life.

Undercover cop Mason Taylor has been working with Rafael to find his brother and bring the cartel thugs who hold him to justice. Can he talk Rafael down from his impulsive actions? And is there something more sinister at work here than he realizes?

My Opinion:
A good read!!!  Fatal Exchange is another great mystery from author Lisa Harris.  For me it started a little slow then BAM! Lisa blew me out of the water with a plot twist that leaves a class room full of kids held at gun point!  From there the pace picked up and the twists kept coming!  I absolutely LOVE the way Lisa blends Faith in her characters and their lives.  Their prayers are realistic as they try to survive danger and conquer their fears!  The departments mole re-surfaces and stirs up all kinds of trouble.  And more about Avery and Emily's brother Michael's murder case is revealed!  After glancing at the provided excerpt I can't wait for the next book to see what lies in store for the Hunt family next.  Favorites from the last book come back to help solve this new case filled with murder, kidnapping, and links to the cartel.  There where lulls in the pace from time to time, but then another adrenaline shot would pop up!  This is a highly entertaining read with great Spiritual lessons, fear, love, family, pain, danger, mystery, betrayal, and much more!

Songs that I think go with Fatal Exchange or *are mentioned in it's pages*: "Forgiveness" by Matthew West, *"[Sittin' On] The Dock Of The Bay" by Otis Redding*, *"Joy To The World"* by Bing Crosby, and "You Won't Let Go" by Michael W. Smith
Songs etc. may be changed or added in the future.

GIVEAWAYS and Interview with Cathy Bryant!!!

Interview With Cathy Bryant,

author of

A BRIDGE UNBROKEN

(& Giveaways)
An E-book copy of A Bridge Unbroken
and you can also R.S.V.P. for the launch party where Cathy's giving away a $100 visa card!

Please tell us a little about yourself (your Bio):
I'm a country gal from Texas who enjoys spinning tales set in the fictional town of Miller's Creek, Texas. When I'm not writing heart-stirring stories of God's amazing grace, you'll find me rummaging through thrift stores, feeding my reality TV addiction, or up to my elbows in yet another home improvement project in the mountain cabin I share with my minister husband of over thirty years. You can find out more about me and the Miller's Creek Novels at my website, CatBryant.com.

What is your favorite Bible verse?
I have lots of favorites, but my absolute favorite is 2 Corinthians 5:21: "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." The absolute best bargain of all time! He took our sin and gave us His righteousness. That just blows me away!

What fun thing can you tell us about yourself that we don't know?
My mother tells me I was born with a head full of black hair. As a girl growing up, it was brown. When I started to turn gray, I colored it red. Then when it got really gray, I went blond. So I can say that I've had every hair color. (By the way, it is true that blonds have more fun!) ;)

What do you enjoy doing when you're not writing?
Honestly, hardly a day goes by when I'm not writing, but as mentioned in question one, I enjoy shopping at thrift stores. The home improvement projects, while I do enjoy them, are more of a necessity than a hobby. As for reality TV? Well, let's just say it makes excellent writer research! I also enjoy hiking, gardening, and spending time with my family.

How did you become involved in writing?
My love affair with writing started at a young age. During my youth, I won several writing contests, on both the regional and state levels. I even worked at the local newspaper for my after-school job. While my kids were young, I probably started at least one new novel every year, but never finished a one. About the same time that the empty nest hit, I was diagnosed with several rare medical conditions and lost a friend to cancer. I realized that if I were ever going to pursue my writing dream, I'd better get started!

I studied books on writing as if I were back in college, and began writing Texas Roads. The book was a 2009 ACFW Genesis contest finalist. I've just kept at it since then, adding four more titles to the Miller's Creek Novels. Other than motherhood, it's the hardest and most rewarding work I've ever done.

Can you use 3 words that describe you?
Hard-working, introverted, and family-oriented.

Do you always know the title of your books before you write them?
Most of the time, I have at least an inkling of an idea, since the Miller's Creek titles all have a journey-theme: roads, path, way, pilgrimage, bridge. The only book title that changed over the course of writing the story was Texas Roads. It started off as This Road Leads Home.

Please tell us about A Bridge Unbroken.
A Bridge Unbroken tells the story of a frightened runaway who wants her painful past to disappear. Her plan to start afresh is derailed when she co-inherits her late grandfather’s farm with the man responsible for the scars on her heart. But he isn’t the only ghost from the past. Someone else is out to get her and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. The story question is: "Will Chance and Dakota lay aside their grudges to restore the old farmhouse and bridge, or will evil forces sabotage their attempt at forgiveness?"

The books is Christian Romantic suspense with a spiritual theme of forgiveness.

What do you hope readers take away after reading this book?
I hope they come away from the story with a fresh understanding of what forgiveness is. The world has really affected our definition of forgiveness, so that believers often don't fully understand it from a Biblical worldview. A scriptural understanding of forgiveness is vital to our faith! I have to favorite quotes on forgiveness. The first is from Mark Twain, who said: "Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it." The other is from C. S. Lewis: "To be a Christian means to excuse the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you."

What are you working on now?
I'm working on the launch party and blog tour for A Bridge Unbroken. I hope everyone will take a minute to click the launch party banner and sign up for the party. The main prize for the night is a $100 Visa Card, but I'll also be giving away books (both print and digital), t-shirts, tote bags, coffee mugs, Amazon gift cards, and bookmarks.

In addition, I'm trying to complete a few unfinished home improvement projects that took a backseat while I wrote the book. I'm also writing a companion Bible study on the topic of forgiveness.

Please tell our readers where they can get your book.
