Winter in Full Bloom Review!!!

Winter in Full Bloom by Anita Higman

Book Description:
Lily Winter's wings are folded so tightly around her daughter that when empty nest arrives, she feels she can no longer fly. But Lily's lonely, widowed life changes in a heartbeat when she goes to visit a woman who is almost a stranger to her---a woman who also happens to be her mother. During their fiery reunion, her mother reveals a dark family secret that she'd been hiding for decades---Lily has an identical twin sister who was put up for adoption when they were just babies.

Without looking back, Lily---with her fear of flying---boards a jumbo jet and embarks on a quest to find her sister which leads half way around the world to Melbourne, Australia. Befriended by imprudent Ausie, he might prove to be the key to finding her sister. But her journey becomes a circle that leads her back home to attempt a family reunion and to find the one dream she no longer imagined possible-the chance to fall in love again.

My Opinion:
When I first read the book description for this book I though it was going to be set in a later time (Why I'm not sure.  Maybe it was the cover.  I just got the feel it would be set in 18' or 19' something or other) so I was at first surprised when it was set in present day.  That said I immediately fell in love with Anita's style of writing and was captured by her characters.  If you've seen the movie French Kiss you may also find similarities in the begin of that movie and the beginning of this book. I LOVED those first scenes.  As I read on I found that I really liked the flow and pace of the book.  With a search sometimes stories can get bogged down in the what do we do next or the we have to wait til tomorrow to get anywhere.  Not so with Winter in Full Bloom.  I felt that Anita kept me intrigued through out the whole book.  I loved learning more about Australia and it used to be one of the last places I ever wanted to go.  I always found it interesting but I never really wanted to brave the poisonous creatures just to see if I liked Australia! LOL!  After Winter in Full Bloom though I think I would really like to visit Melbourne one day!  :)  So many books and movies are centered around Sydney or the Outback, and I really enjoyed that this one stayed in Melbourne.  I was a bit surprised again (Anita kept me on my toes) when I was half way into the book and Lily was going home.  I thought that I only would like it when she stayed in Australia with all the cool new things I was learning, but with Anita's way a telling a story and her inviting characters even though the story jumped back to Texas I really enjoyed it!!!  I also love the chapters!  They where just long enough to keep me going and let me tell you Anita knows how to end a chapter!

I can't wait to see what happens next after the hinting of a sequel set in Ireland!  This is a GREAT story of healing, forgiveness  redemption, salvation, faith, trust, and love!  I highly recommend Winter in Full Bloom!

Songs that I think make up the sound track for this book are:  "Amazing Grace" performed by Ian McGregor & Scottish Pipe Band, "Fate Song/The Foggy Dew" by Carlson, Lewis, & Lewis, "Danny Boy (Irish Traditional)Karin Leitner, "The Honeymoon/The Curragh Races/Anderson's" performed by Dan Isaacson's Simple System, "The Meadow" by Solo Piano, Relaxing Music, "Healing Piano Music - Solo Piano" by Relaxing Piano Music, "Waltzing Matilda" performed by The Aussie Bush Band, and "All Through the Night" by Amy Robbins-Wilson
